Shavano Park is a north central neighborhood in San Antonio and is known to be one the safest communities in the city. Located within its own city limits, Shavano Park has a small, but active city council, fire department and police department. An older, yet affluent community of San Antonio, the original town of Shavano was established around 1881 and served as a stagecoach and rail stop between San Antonio and Boerne. The current population of Shavano Park is estimated to be 3,200.
Many homes sit on one-acre or larger lots and the city strives to maintain a rural feel with a strong sense of community. Shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores can be accessed easily due to Shavano's proximity to major highways in San Antonio.
Residents of Shavano Park are zoned into the Northside Independent School District, yet there are many private and charter school options nearby as well.
